Revenge porn is the distribution of sexually explicit images, videos and other materials without consent which is designed to inflict embarrassment and / or worse on the victim. It is illegal to distribute such material.
Revenge porn is becoming prevalent in the workplace. Employers can face damages if employees perpetrate revenge porn. In one case a payment of $30,000 in damages was made to a former employee for significant embarrassment, anxiety and distress suffered.
In Victoria there is a maximum penalty of two years imprisonment for the intentional distribution of revenge porn.
